We have been unable to completely identify this man.

The name of J Thorpe appears in the Wetherby News in an article of the 23rd October 1914 which lists men of the area who had volunteered to serve. He is listed as living at the time in Micklethwaite and having attested in York on the 8th September 1914. He may be related to Frank Thorpe (see above).
