George Stanley Saville was born in 1898 in Raskelf near Easingwold, the son of Tom and Lily Louisa Saville, who later moved to 34 Lyell Street, Scarborough, and George, aged 13, was living with his parents, brother Charles and sister Dorothy at that address on census night 1911.
In October 1916, George was employed as a clerk in the Passenger Department at Collingham Bridge railway station when he enlisted (source NE Railway Magazine Feb 1918 p. 29). He served as a private in the Scottish Rifles and died on the 21st November 1917, aged 19.
His death was reported in the Wetherby News:
George is buried in Oxford Road Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
