John Henry Wray was born in Collingham on the 14th July 1896, the son of James and Elizabeth Ann Wray. John was baptised in Collinham Church on the 25th November 1897. In 1911, John was living with his parents at Half Moon Cottages, Collingham.

We believe that John Henry Wray served as Pioneer 98724 and WR/209371 in the Royal Engineers in World War 1.

John's brother, George Arthur Wray, served in the Royal Field Artillery in France and was Killed in Action.
