Timeline of changes to this site

  • January 2023 - New improved search page set up.
  • January 2023 - More details added for a number of villagers. We are still working (slowly) on adding details from the 1921 census.
    Time has been spent on a new sister website providing details of those who fought and served in World War 2. More details to follow.
  • January 2022 - Continued progress in adding details. The new 1921 census should also help us and we will be adding details as we discover them.
  • October 2021 - A good month for identification of some of our previously unknown villagers. Four new men who served identified and added to site.
  • May 2021 - New project started to identify the service of those named on the 1911 census who fall into a suitable age range and where we have not already identified service. Already a number of new stories of service have been identified and are being added to the site.
  • May 2021 - News page added to provide better information on updates
  • February 2021 - New page on life at home during the war added
  • January 2021 - Small additional details added to many service records
  • November 2020 - As new pension records gradually get released on line, we are able to identify more service records to include on this site. We are now at 163 service men and women. Our statistic page is complete giving summary statistics of casualty rates, service dates and previous occupations. Individual history details are also continuously updated.
  • March 2020 - 161 brief records now on-line. A few more detailed histories are now available. Work has also started on a statistics page to show when and where men served.
  • October 2019 - 159 brief records now on-line. The longer task of providing much more detail for each man's service has now started. The continued search to identify the unknown men still continues.
  • April 2019 - 152 brief records now on-line.
  • January 2019 - after the rush of Remembrancetide we have completed records for 148 people on line. The new releases of pension records are also allowing us to identify some of our 'unknowns'
  • October 2018 - 130 records now on line
  • August 2018 - now over 100 records uploaded with some new updates and additions
  • June 2018 - first 90 records uploaded
  • March 2018 - first 80 brief records now uploaded - about half of our records now on line
