This site commemorates the men and women of Collingham, Linton and Micklethwaite who served during World War 1.
Kay, Robert
(1893-?)

Robert Kay, born in Linton in 1893, was the second son of three sons and one daughter, of John Hill Kay and Mary Jane Kay (nee Hawkes). Robert was baptised in Wetherby on the 3rd September 1893.

In 1911, he was living with his parents and siblings in Linton and seven years later, in 1918, he is listed on the Linton electoral role as an Absent Voter due to Naval or Military Service. However we have been unable to identify exactly what this service was - there are 85 men named Robert Kay who were awarded campaign medals for service in WW1 and we cannot connect any of these directly with Linton at the moment.

After the war, Robert returned to Yorkshire and on the 17th December 1919, he married Eleanor Jane Thirlwall in Wetherby.
