Robert Henry Johnson is identified on the 1919 electoral roll of Collingham as being absent due to Naval or Military service, but a similar entry is not made for 1918. We think therefore that Robert Henry Johnson may have joined, or been conscripted, towards the end of the war. We can find no record of medals being awarded to a Robert Henry Johnson, and this also suggests that he may have been called up, but have not served overseas before the hostilities ceased.
Robert Henry Johnson was born on the 16th August 1896, another son of Henry and Sarah Ann Johnson. Robert Henry is with his parents and some siblings at Elmwood Terrace in Collingham on census day in 1911.
After the war, on the 26th December 1925, Robert Henry Johnson married Elizabeth Calvert at the Weslyan Chapel, Meadow Lane, Leeds. In 1939, at the time of the 1939 Registration Act, we think that Robert was living at Manor Farm Cottage in Wetherby.
We have not identified Robert Henry Johnson's service, if you have any information to help us, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
