Biography
Stanley Kingston North appears on the 1939 National Registration living at Whyeburne House, Leeds Road, Collingham with his wife, Lily North (nee Dawson).
Stanley Kingston North had been born on the 15th June 1895, one of a large family born to Ernest Walter North and his wife Margaret Ellen North (nee Kingston). In 1901 the family were living at 45 St.Anne's Avenue, Burley, Headingley and in 1911 at 44 Hamilton Avenue, Leeds.
Stanley Kingston North, and his two brothers, Walter and Harold, all served in the First World War, Stanley in the York and Lancaster Regiment. His exact service is not yet clear but in 1918-1919 Lieutenant Stanley Kingston North was demobilised from the 4th Battalion with the award of a Silver War Badge.
Stanley married Lily Dawson on the 9th November 1921 while he was living at 44 Hamilton Avenue, Leeds. By 1925 Stanley and Lily have set up their own home and are livng at 17 Hill Top Mount in Leeds and they remain at that address, according to the Leeds electoral rolls, until 1930. Briefly they appear on the 1931 electoral roll at 19 St.Margaret's View, Roundhay, but by 1938 they have moved to Collingham and are registered at Whyeburne House, Leeds Road, Collingham in both 1938 and 1939.
In about 1940, Stanley North rejoins the British Army. This time joining the Pioneer Corps. He remained with that unit throughout the war reaching the rank of Temporary Captain.
After his wartime service, in 1946, Stanley moved back to Collingham and to Whyeburne House. He and Lily remained registered there in the electoral rolls until 1950, when they moved to 4 Regent Parade, Harrogate. They lived there until at least 1960.
Stanley Kingston North dies on the 2nd September 1975 in Bridlington.
