This site commemorates the men and women of Collingham and Linton who served during World War 2. Today we especially commemorate Lt Col 38393 Gorges Frederick Houghton of the Royal Signals Corps who was born on this day in 1907 and 2nd Lieutenant 130822 Arthur William Bisat of the 1st (Airborne) Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles who died on this day in 1943.

The War Memorials

The World War 2 memorial in St.Oswald's Church, Collingham lists 11 men of the village who served and gave their lives in World War Two. In addition, the Memorial for Linton, in Linton Memorial Hall, provides the names of a further seven men who served and died, and the memorial board in Collingham Memorial Hall combines these two lists. Their names and their stories are listed on the left.
