War time electoral rolls

War time electoral rolls. As the war was ending electoral rolls were compiled for the upcoming general election. There were the 'normal' civilian electoral rolls, but servicemen and women were also registered ready for their demobilisation and to ensure they had a vote. The Service sections of the electoral rolls for Collingham and Linton in 1945, 1946, 1947 and 1948 are available and contain the names and addresses of those men and women from the villages who were serving. Unfortunately these lists do not give any details of the service, including whether service was with the Army, Navy or Air Force. Those lists have been invaluable in finding a number of those who served. The full lists can be seen at: 1945 - 1946 - 1947 - 1948 .

The Service List for 1948.

In 1945 two service lists were compiled, the main Service List and a Supplementary Service List.
